FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Inclusion Saskatchewan has released a report documenting Saskatchewan data from the National Exclusion Tracker (NET) for the 2025–26 school year.

[Saskatoon, SK] On September 14, Inclusion Saskatchewan released a report titled "National Exclusion Tracker (NET): Saskatchewan Snapshot 2025-26 School Year." This document provides a Saskatchewan snapshot of the data from the National Exclusion Tracker, stewarded by the Family Support Institute of BC and promoted through Inclusion Saskatchewan. The methodology, historical development of the Tracker, definitions, and analytical framework are detailed in the Interim National Findings Report. The statistics below reflect Saskatchewan-based responses within the national dataset and are presented here for jurisdiction-specific review. Data is self-reported by family members and/or students.

Highlights from the report:

  • There were 55 reports from Saskatchewan during the 2025-26 school year.

  • Saskatchewan reports came from at least 22 communities and 14 school divisions, and across all K-12 grade levels.

  • About 80% of reports were regarding an ongoing exclusion, meaning students were missing classroom time for multiple days or long-term, with about 48% put on shortened day schedules on an ongoing basis.

  • 42 Saskatchewan reports (95.8%) were related to K-12 education while the others were regarding early learning or daycare centres.

  • Of parents who completed the survey, 51% had to work reduced hours or lost their jobs entirely due to their child’s exclusion from school.

  • Within SK reports, informal, undocumented, and partial-day exclusions are more common than formal suspensions, while the most frequently reported outcomes of exclusions are negative impacts on mental health and learning.
