Inclusion Is Patrick

Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities as well as Giving Tuesday and we’d like to highlight one of our best and brightest success stories: Patrick.

In 2017, our Ready, Willing & Able program inspired Ron Schira of Schira Subways to create a new hospitality role in one of his Subway restaurants. After reaching out to us, Employment Facilitator Alyssa Lindsay helped Patrick to apply for the job by assisting with resume and interview preparation, attending the interview with Patrick, and contracting a job coach for two months to help Patrick learn the role.

Patrick was hired and now, after two years, Ron couldn’t be more pleased with Patrick. “Patrick suits the role very well... he goes that extra mile to make sure our customers feel welcome.” As for Patrick, he loves working at Subway. “My favourite part is working with the customers,” says Patrick.

Inclusion Saskatchewan’s work with Patrick is now paving the way for others as well. However, in order to continue doing this work, we need your help. On this International Day of Disabilities and Giving Tuesday, we ask that you consider making a donation or becoming a monthly donor. With your help, Inclusion Saskatchewan will be able to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in their search for employment opportunities.

We wish to thank you for your ongoing commitment to and involvement with Inclusion Saskatchewan. May your holiday season and New Year be filled with the joy of inclusion!
