Freedom of Information Requests Submitted to 27 Saskatchewan School Divisions

[Saskatoon, SK] Inclusion Saskatchewan (INSK) has submitted a formal request under Saskatchewan’s Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (LAFOIP) to 27 school divisions across Saskatchewan. The requests seek access to records relating to the exclusion of disabled students during the 2025-2026 school year, resulting in violations of their right to education.
The purpose of this process is to obtain information that will help provide a clearer understanding of the prevalence of disability-based school exclusion in Saskatchewan. This is a repeat of the process that INSK followed in September of 2025. Following the 2025 requests, 18 school divisions provided records. The data from these records was compiled and released by INSK in the report “Unseen Impacts: The Reality of School Exclusion for Students with Disabilities in Saskatchewan” revealing that approximately 1250-1350 students with intellectual disabilities and/or neurodivergence were not allowed to attend school fulltime during the 2024-25 school year. In addition to the raw data we aim to gather from these requests, INSK continues to gather contextual data on the circumstances and barriers leading to exclusions through our partnership with the National Exclusion Tracker and the individual requests for support brought to our advocacy team.
